Welcome back, everyone. It’s great to have the ACFL community about to start riding again as the new season opens on April 1st! I hope the winter treated you well and that you’re ready to get out on the trails.
One important thing to keep in mind as we head out: it’s been a very wet winter, and the trails are more vulnerable to damage than usual. Soft, saturated ground tears up easily under tires, so please ride with extra care, stick to established lines, and avoid riding when conditions are clearly too wet. How we treat the trails right now will speak volumes about who we are as a community.
On the advocacy front, I’ve been actively working to get two-stroke motorcycles added to the forest lands access. I’ve testified before the City Council and submitted a fact-based letter making the case for opening the existing trails to two-strokes, and I’m hopeful they’ll reconsider. I’m also exploring the possibility of adding a loop or two as a test-bed expansion of trail access. I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback as this moves forward. As always, remember that people are watching, both riders and non-riders, and every interaction on and off the trail matters. As always, please treat the other trail users with respect, look out for each other, and be an ambassador for our sport. The future of our access to the ACFL depends on it.
